Western Zodiac Signs: Aquarius, The Water Carrier

Western astrology associates people's characteristics with the sign of the zodiac they were born under. Learn about people born under Aquarius.

Aquarius, The Water Carrier

Aquarius, The Water Carrier, is the eleventh sign of the zodiac, which runs from January 21st to February 19th every year.

Western astrology is based on the Sign of the Zodiac of a person's date of birth. Astronomers used the term "zodiac" to mean the ring of constellations that lines the ecliptic, which is the Sun's apparent path across the sky during the year.

The Western astrological year is divided in to 12 roughly equal parts, and the names given to these 12 parts are the "Signs of the Zodiac". The animal or object shaped patterns of stars in the part of the zodiac that the sun passes through during that part of the year is used as the name for the sign of the zodiac.

Advocates of Western astrology believe that typical people born under each sign of the zodiac have a set of characteristics and character traits, both positive and negative. These characteristics and character traits may not fully apply to every individual born under that sign.
