Mother's Day is the most important day of the year for moms. Everyone, whether they are a son or daughter, a husband, of a father helping out their children, wants their gifts and cards to make the day special.

List your mom's favorites
Write a list of the things you mom really likes. Include things like her favorite foods and drinks, her treats like chocolates or special cakes, her favorite clothing and jewelry, and her hobbies and interests like gardening or astrology.
Don't ignore things like chocolates or flowers because that's what you gave her last year, and the year before that. Even chocolates and flowers can be made extra special.

Flowers
Everyone loves flowers. They look gorgeous and they smell gorgeous. But unfortunately they soon wither and die.
Why not give your mom a pot plant or a bush for the garden that is in flower on Mother's day? That way your mom will have flowers every year.
Food and Drink Baskets and Hampers
Buy a wicker basket or a similar container that will be useful in its own right later. Fill it full of your mom's favorite foods and drinks. Include healthy foods like fresh fruit and vegetables, but don't forget some treats. An extra special touch would be baking some cupcakes or chocolate brownies yourself.
Gardening
If gardening is one of your mom's interests, make up a basket with some brand new tools, maybe those with comfort handles, some seeds and bulbs, and a book about her favorite flowers. Or buy her a fruit bush or tree for the garden.

A ring with your mom's astrological birthstone is a great example of combine an interest with her favorite jewelery. Your list of your mom's favorites will suggest more such combinations.
Pampering
Rather than sending your mom to a spa or beauty salon, go there with her and have a special bonding day together. Don't forget lunch, being pampered makes you really hungry.
Cards
Making your own Mother's Day card makes it extra special. Your mom will put it in her "keep it forever" box. Add a poem or quote to your card that has a personal meaning.
